Central & South Elementaries Earn State Recognition for Improvement in Achievement

The award is presented to districts and buildings that have improved their performance index by 3 or more points from the 2021-2022 state report card to the 2022-2023 report card and received a value-added progress rating of 4 or more stars.

"This remarkable accomplishment reflects your unwavering commitment to excellence and the outstanding services you provide to your students and the community. It recognizes the devoted teachers and staff who consistently go above and beyond, ensuring that all students receive exceptional learning and instruction," said Stephen Dackin, ODEW Director, in letters to each school.

"Your tireless efforts in nurturing young minds, fostering a positive learning environment, and promoting holistic development has not gone unnoticed,” Dackin said. "Your impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future leaders of tomorrow."

Jason Hussel, South Principal, had this to say: “I am so proud of our entire staff for their hard work surrounding this award. I am honored to lead and be a part of Fairfield South Elementary School.”

Central Principal Karrie Gallo also praised her staff for their part in earning this award.

“A huge congratulations goes to everyone, and this award couldn’t have come at a better time!” Gallo told her staff. “Testing and the end of the year are not easy times for anyone… but this is another sign of our why. You all did this! Every single one of you did this!”

Previous Fairfield City School District winners are North Elementary School and Fairfield Freshman School.
