Student Absences and Excuses

Regular attendance by all students is very important. In many cases, inconsistent attendance is a major reason for poor schoolwork.

However, there are situations that may cause a student to miss school. Parents or guardians are asked to notify the school by phone or email as early as possible on the day a student is absent. Also, a note from the parent or guardian explaining the reason for the absence is required when the student returns to school.

The school will accept emails explaining the absence in lieu of a handwritten note.

Parents are encouraged to email their child's school before the start of school on the day of the absence with a reason for the absence.  Emails received before the start of the school day can be considered both notification and documentation of the student's absence.

Parents may send an email to the following to report an absence:

The district is required to make an attempt to notify the parent or guardian of a student who is absent without a legitimate excuse from school.  This notification will be made via the Remind notification system.
