Class Placement
Dear East Elementary Parents,
Each spring, the teachers and administrators at East Elementary spend a significant amount of time preparing class lists for the upcoming school year. The first priority for class placement is to create well-balanced classrooms for all students. In order to accomplish this goal, many factors must be taken into consideration. We look at overall academic ability, classroom performance, and social interactions to determine placement. We are very consistent in this practice.
Information from your child’s current classroom teacher is the first priority in this process. Mr. McEldowney and I will meet with the teachers to create balanced class groups for next year. We understand that you may have other information to share about your child. In order to communicate this critical information, you may submit a Class Placement Parent Input form to the school office by the end of school on Friday, April 26th for consideration. This form can be obtained from the school office or on our East website. Please send this form only if there are important factors that you wish to be considered. This form should focus on your child’s learning style or the environment he/she responds best. Forms requesting a specific teacher or received after the end of school on April 26th cannot be considered. All requests meeting these requirements will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
