Institute of Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) Training Video to Feature FCSD Teachers

The Institute of Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) was at Central Elementary on March 27 and Compass Elementary on March 28, filming some of our teachers and students as they used the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching literacy. The videos will be shared during future IMSE training sessions nationwide! With the Orton-Gillingham approach, students learn language by ear (listening), mouth (speaking), eyes (seeing), and hand (writing).
Aimee Dunn, the Orton-Gillingham instructional specialist in the FCSD, said the filming of our work “is a great opportunity for Fairfield to be spotlighted for all that we are doing to support our students in the area of structured literacy.”
In these photos, EL Tutor Lynn Wood works with students on drills and dictation. Other teachers filmed were Central's Abby Smith, Chris Kalejs with Aimee Dunn, and Compass teachers Tiffany Mason, Allison Meyer, Amanda Barnette, and Kendra Zoller.
