Katie Pennell's Home Page
Hello, I am Katie Pennell.
In 7th grade, I moved to Fairfield, Ohio, and attended Fairfield Jr. High. I graduated from Fairfield Sr. High School on Nilles, which is now Creekside Middle School, in 1978.
I earned a B.S. in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University, with a concentration in the instrument Bassoon.
I followed my husband around the country for 10 years. Eight of those years he was in the Air Force. When it was time to leave the Air Force, we moved back to Fairfield, Ohio.
I began teaching Beginning and Advanced Strings, General Music, and the North Patriots choral group at North Elementary in 1993. In 1997 our district re-shuffled our schools and the music ensemble program moved to the Intermediate School, (now Crossroads Middle School.) I taught Strings, after-school Choir, General Music, and Beginning Band (woodwinds) at the Intermediate School for 18 years. During this time I also served as one of the Assistant Band Directors for the Fairfield High School Marching Band and loved every minute of it!
In 1999 I completed my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership at Miami University of Ohio. Technology was a huge part of my master's program and I loved it. I completed my course work for a Principal's Certificate but decided to remain in the classroom.
I have always had a fascination with Technology. As technology grew, so did I. This is my 28th year in education and my sixth year working as an Instructional Specialist for Technology and Data. I enjoy helping teachers with their technology and data needs.
When I am not working I love to camp with my family, make jewelry, play with my adorable puppies, Harley and Cocoa, and play my Bari Sax in my church Praise Band.
